FORMER England star Gareth Southgate has called on city footballers to enter the Carlsberg Pub Cup.
The event is due to take place at the Powerleague Centre in Fyfield Barrow, Walnut Tree at 2pm on Sunday.
The Carlsberg Pub Cup is a nationwide five aside tournament that offers players of all standards the chance to play for their pub at world renowned Emirates Stadium, with the overall winning team flying to represent England and play a team of European legends under the management of former England international Southgate and watch England play Sweden on June 15 at the European Championships.
With registration closing this Sunday and matches taking place at 2pm this is the last chance for teams to enter.
The Carlsberg Pub Cup is made of two tournaments – making it appealing for regular five aside teams and those who play for fun rather than competition.
The winners of 16 regional finals will appear at a Grand Final at Emirates Stadium as will those teams who are awarded a Carlsberg Green Card.
Referees will reward acts that capture the essence of Carlsberg’s support of the England football team with a Carlsberg Green Card. Acts which may merit a Green Card will include sportsmanship, team spirit, fair play, overcoming the odds to play and bringing a great team of supporters.
Teams can enter the competition by registering on the official Carlsberg Pub Cup website at www.carlsberg.co.uk/pubcup
Southgate said, “Milton Keynes, now it has a successful League One side in the area needs to represented at the finals and this is a great opportunity for players of any standard to get involved in this fantastic five aside competition.
“The Green Card tournament means all entrants, whatever their standards have the opportunity to reach the Grand Final at Emirates Stadium, so I urge everyone to take part - your pub really does need you.”
