Woburn and Wavendon FC, who suffered a blow when their storage shed at Wavendon Gate School was destroyed by fire, have been given a helping hand.

Ian Doggett, WWFC club chairman, said: “Out of adversity, there often comes a spirit that restores faith in human nature. This is certainly true of all those who have helped keep things up and running for the Lionesses teams playing at Wavendon Gate School. We are indeed grateful for the encouragement received from Walton Community Council and in particular, their award of a grant which has helped enable us to keep things running smoothly. In recognition of this support, our Under 11 Lionesses team now feature the Walton Community Council logo on their shirts, and the club hopes to build further links and develop many mutually beneficial projects in the future.

Councillors David Newland and Mario Toto, along with parish manager, Lesley Sung, pictured with the team, were guests at the PowerLeague in Walnut Tree this week, seeing the girls in their new kit and checking out one of the weekly high intensity training sessions.
