Nik Hartley, CEO of Restless Development, is putting his convictions on the line and spending just £1 each day for a week on food.
From April 29 to May 3, Nik will be joined by thousands of other people across the country and internationally who are taking the challenge to raise awareness of extreme poverty and funds for development agencies.
Believing that if we are to eradicate extreme poverty we must first understand it, Live Below the Line for Restless Development, now in its third year, challenges people to eat and drink for £1 a day, for five days – the extreme poverty threshold beneath which 1.4 billion people worldwide must survive on each day.
Nik said: “1.4 billion people, live on less than £1 every day of their life. For everything. 5-days living on £1 per day for all my food and drink is just a token to try to help raise awareness and funds for this totally avoidable blight on our planet.
No one needs to be hungry IF... I want to do this to raise awareness of the IF campaign for which we, Restless Development, are a proud leading member. Oh and it will be the week leading up to the birth of our first baby. So may just turn out to be tough.”
