‘Lizzie’ all set to steam through Milton Keynes

A FAMOUS steam locomotive which signalled the start of the Jubilee Pageant is coming to Milton Keynes.

The Princess Elizabeth will be taking passengers on The Cathedrals Express to Winchester on Thursday, July 26.

‘Lizzie’ was built in Crewe in 1933 and named after the Queen when she was aged only seven. The Cathedrals Express will be leaving Milton Keynes Station at 8.30am to take passengers to Winchester. It will return at 8.30pm.

Passengers will have a number of dining options while onboard and will be seated in wood-panelled carriages and comfortable seats with individual table lamps and curtains at the window.

Cathedrals Express chairman Marcus Robertson, said: “It is exciting to have loco running a new itinerary, and for it to be a Royal engine in this Diamond Jubilee is most appropriate.”
