thecentre:mk has announced that Age UK will be the beneficiary of the Wishing Pool funds at this year’s Christmas display.

Since 1985 over £380,000 has been raised and distributed through city projects that benefit the community. Some of the groups that have been beneficiaries over previous years include GEMK, Age Concern Milton Keynes, MK Reader Service, MK Wildlife Trust, MK Community Cardiac Group, RSPCA, MK SNAP, the Ark Charity and the MK Play Association.

Age UK Milton Keynes works with and for older people to make a real and positive difference that contributes to their wellbeing and quality of life.

They are a local charity and money that is raised in Milton Keynes contributes helping older people in the city.

Every year they help over 12,000 older people remain independent in their own homes by providing approximately 15 different services, one of these services being the Handy Person Service which the Wishing Pool funds will contribute to.

Jade Hall, PR Manager of thecentre:mk, said: “Choosing one beneficiary from a group of worthy applicants proved to be an incredibly difficult task for the team at thecentre:mk and Tenants Association representatives.

“The importance of each individual application was notably significant in a challenging economic climate where fund-raising is increasingly difficult. We look forward to announcing the happy news this week and making Age UK Milton Keynes’ Christmas wishes come true.”
