Bosses at Kentucky Fried Chicken have defended their hygiene standards despite a second bug being found in food from the Xscape store.
Mum Jill McCarthy found an unidentified and decomposing insect in a pot of KFC sweet chilli sauce after she and her toddler son had dipped their chicken in it.
She says she and two-year-old Damian were both ill with sickness and stomach cramps for several days afterwards.
Despite making three complaints via the restaurant’s website, her complaint has so far been ignored.
Jill, who lives on Tinkers Bridge, contacted the Citizen after reading last week’s story about a customer finding an insect in her KFC burger.
Pregnant Nikki Hudson complained immediately to staff and was given a refund but no apology.
This week MK Council’s environmental health department revealed the first bug was an earwig and an “isolated incident”. They said they were satisfied with hygiene standards on the premises.
A KFC spokesman said the second incident would be thoroughly investigated with the supplier of the chilli sauce, which comes in sealed units.
