Residents are invited to a free road safety activity day in Midsummer Place next Saturday
‘Be Safe Be Seen’ aims to raise awareness of road safety and the ways people can make sure they can be seen by drivers whether walking or cycling.
The event, which runs from 9:30am until 5pm, will include lots of fun activities for children and adults, including a blackout tunnel which demonstrates the difference wearing reflective gear can make compared to normal clothing, games and videos on road safety, a mini-street, face-painting, children’s colouring in area and quizzes.
Advice on reflective clothing and how to put lights and reflectors on bicycles will also be available.
There will be plenty of great free giveaways from flashing LED bag-tags to hi-vis wrist and arm bands to keep all the family safe and seen this winter. There’s also the chance to meet the MKFM team who are supporting the event, and will be broadcasting live from Midsummer Place.
Councillor John Bint, cabinet member for Transport and Highways said: “As the evenings are getting darker it becomes even more important to make sure that you are visible to drivers when you are on the roads and pavements. This event is a great way for all ages to learn the importance of wearing reflective gear and the other ways to avoid the dangers that the roads pose.”
