Boy, 17, gets 10 year animal ban

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy was been banned from keeping any animals for 10 years and jailed for 18 weeks for a breach of the animal welfare act.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison when he appeared before the Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Youth Court on Tuesday.

He was also sentenced to 18 weeks for causing danger to other road users, 12 weeks for the theft of a dog and 16 weeks for the possession of cannabis during his brief court appearance.

The boy is already serving a 24-month detention and training order for various drug offences.

He was sentenced in respect of those charges at Aylesbury Crown Court on January 30.

All sentences are due to run concurrently.
