Brave teen stages charity horse ride

Girl hold event to fundraise for charity which helped her late father

A teenager from Pottersbury has organised a charity event to raise money for a leading cancer charity in memory of her late father.

Rhia Biscoe, 13, was devastated when her father died just two days before Christmas last year but has shown amazing courage and determination to organise a riding event which she hopes will raise money for UCARE, Urology Cancer Research and Education.

"UCARE fought for my dad, he fought for me and now this is my chance to fight for them." Rhia said "This is something which will be a bit different and personally will be a big thing for me.

"If I can help stop another family going through this then I will be happy."

The event itself will involve people riding through the Wakefield estates and Plum Park and it is hoped that each rider will raise a minimum of 25.

Already 30 have signed up, including some of the nurses who treated her dad throughout his illness.

"I would love to raise between 2,500 and 3,000." Rhia added.

"But honestly anything I can raise I will be happy with. I have had so much support and help from people and I am amazed."

Mum Jane was quick to praise her daughter for what she feels is an extremely brave and thoughtful act, one her dad would have been extremely proud of.

"For her to arrange all of this virtually on her own is amazing.

"She is so clever and tremendously brave considering what we have all been through. But that is what she is like, just like her dad."
