BREAKING NEWS: Adult and child hospitalised after armed raid

Gun shots fired were blanks

An adult and a child were rushed to hospital following an armed raid at a city jewellers.

The pair were suffering from the effects of CS gas, which was released during the raid at 11.42am this morning.

Shots fired during the robbery at Leslie Davis jewellers in thecentre:mk have since been revealed to have been blanks.

Thames Valley Police officers remain at the scene of the robbery and the area has been cordoned off.

Police believe two offenders enered the shop, while one waited nearby, but others may also have been involved.

The two people taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital are expected to be released later today. Other people received treatment at the scene.

Officers have confirmed the the spent cartridges recovered from the scene are blank. It is believed the firearm may have been a handgun, which is consistent with early indications from some witnesses.

Det Ch Insp Pete Vigurs said: "A number of witnesses have come forward, however I would like to appeal to anyone who was at thecentre:mk this morning and who hasn't spoken to police to get in touch.

"Anyone who has any information should contact Thames Valley Police via the 24-hour non-emergency number 0845 8 505 505, quoting URN 789 1/12. If you don't want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"I would like to reassure the residents of Milton Keynes that incidents of this nature are rare and officers are working extremely hard to bring those responsible to justice."
