BREAKING NEWS: Redway sex attacker jailed

Robert Horne to serve at least 8 years for sex assaults that terrified city

The man whose sex attacks terrified women across Milton Keynes has today been told he must stay behind bars for an indeterminate time in order to protect the public.

Robert Horne, 26, was sentenced today (Thursday) after previously being found guilty of five counts of sexual assaults and one of attempted rape.

He cannot apply for parole until at least eight years have passed and will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life, and never be able to work with children aged less than 16.

The sentence was welcomed by Thames Valley Police, whose major crime unit investigated the attacks of May and June last year.

Happening at various places across Milton Keynes, Horne's brutal and terrifying assaults prompted widespread alarm, with many thosuands of people voicing their fear and anger on online networking sites.

Detective Chief Inspector Joe Kidman, who led the investigation, said: "This is a very significant sentence which brings some real professional satisfaction, not least because it recognises both the hurt inflicted on the victims and their courage.

"Investigations such as these are always complex and challenging.

"The team demonstrated great dedication and skill throughout, which was also noted by Judge McKittrick who commended the investigating team and all the police departments involved in bringing Horne to justice.

Horne was also found guilty of three counts of robbery carried out during the attacks.

Gavyn Bull-Jones, who was also arrested along with Horne on June 29 last year, had already pleaded guilty to one robbery.

He was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment which he has already served.
