‘Can’t cook, can judge’ – Robbo

Karl Robinson at The Swan pub to launch Mk Food Awards

DONS manager Karl Robinson has been named as a high profile judge for Milton Keynes Food & Leisure Awards.

The Citizen backed competition, in its inaugral year, will honour the best restaurants, pubs, hotels, gyms and destinations in MK.

Self-confessed foodie, Milton Keynes Dons boss Mr Robinson said the competition was good for the growth of MK.

And he even admitted he preferred dining out in the new city to his native Liverpool.

“I like relaxing and not over pretentious places,” he said.

“Milton Keynes is great because you rarely have to travel more than 15 minutes. We like gastro pubs and will often eat out four times a week.

“Not a lot of people realise how much the town has in it.

“There are plenty of places for families to eat which is great for me.”

But he admitted that he can’t cook himself – aside from rustling up the occasional stir fry. And his judging duties are likely to be kept to the main courses, as he added he doesn’t really have a sweet tooth.

Mr Robinson will be one of a panel of judges that also includes Sun journalist Lee Price, Paris House chef Phil Fanning and the Citizen’s Craig Lewis.

In all the Awards will consist of 14 categories. People can vote for their favourite in each category via comment cards found at venues throughout the city or by visiting the awards website.

The eventual winners will be announced at a gala event at the Swan Inn in Milton Keynes Village on May 13.
