Charity's Energie boost

Shoppers adopt pedal power to cycle 'around the world'

SHOPPERS adopted a bit of

pedal power to boost the

city 'cycle around the

world' fundraiser in aid of

Cancer Research UK at the

weekend.

Leading up to the event

members at Energie Fitness

Club, based in the Theatre

District, collectively

clocked up 6,228km on stationary

bikes.

During the weekend people

were then invited to

help finish off the last

360km to reach their target.

The mammoth mission

marked Breast Awareness

Month with participants

donating to take part and

all proceeds going to Cancer

Research UK.

Gary Corby, general manager

at Energie Fitness,

said: "We are thrilled to

have reached our target – it

was an ambitious goal but

thanks to our members and

the public pushing themselves

that extra bit further,

we've made a great

achievement. Thank you

for all the support and

donations."

As well as taking part in

the event people were asked

to sign a giant pink T-shirt,

which is now on display at

the club. Overall a creditable

6,588km was cycled

in total over the week.
