Children visiting city libraries this month will be able to see two of their favourite characters in Maisy Mouse and Elmer.

For the past four months libraries have collected donations from library users to help fund extra activities on top of what the library service normally provides.

And as a result more than £300 has been raised to help add extra fun to Stories, Songs and Rhymetimes sessions for young children at local libraries by including a visit from the popular book characters.

Councillor David Hopkins, cabinet member responsible for Libraries, said: “I’d like to thank the generosity of our library users in allowing us to add some extra fun to further encourage young people to enjoy reading sessions at our libraries.”

Maisy will be visiting Bletchley Library today at 2.15pm for Songtime before the same session at Westcroft Library tomorrow at 2pm and again at Westcroft on Friday at 11am before going to Wolverton for Storytime at 2pm.

On Saturday she will be at Central Library for Songtime at 10am and Storytime at 11am before rounding off her ‘tour’ with a songtime at Central Library on March 11 at 10am before a Storytime at 10.45am.

Elmer will visit Bletchley Library for Songtime on March 19 at 2.15pm and March 20 for Storytime at 11am. He will go to Stony Stratford Library for Storytime on March 20 at 2pm before going to Westcroft for Storytime on March 21 at 11am and Newport Pagnell for Storytime on the same day at 2pm.

On March 22 he will be at Central Library for Storytime at 11am before finishing on March 25 with Songtime at Central Library at 10am then Storytime at 10.45am.
