City road turned into open-air toilet and brothel
Blakelands street becomes lorry park - and den of iniquity
A city road has become an open-air toilet and brothel, disgusting nearby residents and even squaddies used to the mean streets of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Yeomans Drive, Blakelands, is an unofficial lorry park, with drivers defecating and having sex in the surrounding bushes which back onto a housing estate and the Territorial Army centre.
George Parsons, 74, is among those who says enough is enough.
He said this week: "The last straw was cleaning human excrement from my garden fence last week. The smell was so bad, I was sick."
The problems started after the Newport Pagnell lorry park closed in late 2004.
"I've been complaining to the council," said George. "And I always get the same response: ' We'll get back to you'.
"My patience has run out. It's ruining my quality of life."
George says he sympathises with the long-distance drivers who have no facilities but cannot tolerate their behaviour.
"It's disgraceful. They go to the toilet in the bushes nearby, and their soiled toilet paper blows into my garden.
"Prostitutes visit and I've often seen them with the drivers in the bushes, leaving used condoms behind.
"I was walking my dog at 3pm and caught them at it on the grass – they just grinned."
Captain Bill Holland from the TA Centre has also complained.
In a letter dated November 28 last year the council told him that all it can do is clear up the immediate problem, and "as long as the drivers are there the problem will remain".
But that doesn't satisfy Capt Holland – who has also seen drivers defecating and urinating, as well as having sex.
He said: "We have young children coming to cadets through the week and social functions here. It's just disgusting."
A council spokesman said: "A council officer visited Mr Parsons this week to discuss the problem.
"It was clear that there were problems of littering and signs of antisocial behaviour and the council will be working with other partners over the next week to decide the best way to tackle the issue."
