Council leader hedges his bets in country skills

editorial image

BUSY council leader Andrew Geary took time off from stuffy council offices and business suits on Wednesday to demonstrate an unexpected skill – in the ancient art of hedgelaying.

Mr Geary, a farmer, competed with his fellow councillor brother Peter, pictured left, in the North West Bucks Agricultural Association’s annual competition near the village of Nash.

“My father taught us how to lay hedges and we thoroughly enjoy it,” he said.

> A video from the hedgelaying competition will be available on our website, www.miltonkeynes.co.uk, later this week
