Six amateur cyclists are set to get on their bikes and ride 100 miles a day from Milton Keynes to Monaco for charity.
Matt Broughton and his five friends, Matt Mitchell, Joseph Dorsett, Joshua Stephenson, Claire Guerriero and Stuart Mason, will be setting off on September 28 in a bid to ride 1,000 miles over 10 days.
Despite having not ridden a bike in almost 10 years, Matt was not going to pass up this challenge to raise £15,000 for Willen Hospice.
He said: “I am a complete novice at cycling and literally haven’t ridden a bike for about 10 years, so you can imagine my initial response to Matty’s idea – wing it!
“This challenge so far has been one of the best of my life and we’ve only been training so far.
“So you can imagine I’m buzzing for the trip later this month. It’s going to be hard work, but we are all driven by a great and worthy cause.”
The six are self-funding the ride – which will see them climb 14,000ft on day eight of their epic journey.
To support them you can make a donation on their Just Giving page which can be found at www,justgiving.com/mk2-monaco.
