An under-fire pizza shop boss who caused outrage over a roadside advertising campaign says he will move the ‘human pizza boxes’ to a quieter location.

Wobble boarders, who advertise Domino’s products, were waving and dancing in human-sized pizza boxes near the Kingston Retail Park and on the central verge of H8/V8 Standing Way.

Motorists complained to the shop this morning about being distracted by the advertising gimmick.

A spokesman for Domino’s Pizza Group PLC said: “Wobble boarding is a great way to get our message across and our employees love being out of the store and doing something different.

“However a wobble boarder’s safety, security and wellbeing, along with that of the general public, are a top priority for Domino’s franchisees.

“We are promptly addressing the concerns raised this morning with the franchisee.”

The wobble boarders were employed by the Kingston branch. Branch manager Boms Periquet said: “The wobble boarders are for one week only.

“We just wanted to let our customers know about a promotion that we have this week.

“We will reposition our wobble boarders to a safer area, like bus stops and quieter roads. Not big, busy roads and roundabouts.

“Unless our area manager says otherwise, we will continue wobble boarding, but in a safer place.”

Residents took to twitter and other social media to comment and raise their concerns.
