FORMER cook Dorothy Belton is looking forward to celebrating her 103rd birthday with a raucous sing song.

Dorothy is the oldest resident at Kents Hill Care home and, her carers believe, one of the oldest women in Milton Keynes.

She and farm worker husband Alfred brought up seven children and lived on farms in Gayhurst, Castlethorpe and Filgrave. Sadly, Dorothy was widowed almost 50 years ago.

Today she has seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren – with two more on the way this year.

In the 1950s she started working as a cook for the Diplomatic Wireless Service at Hanslope Park, where she was soon promoted to head cook.

Dorothy will celebrate her birthday on Sunday with a party for family, staff and fellow residents at the care home.

There will be live entertainment in the form of a singer with a repertoire of 1940s-style songs.

Care home spokesman Annette Nash said: “Dorothy enjoys music, but she doesn’t really like the slow songs.

“She likes songs with a good bouncy beat. She is a lovely lady with a lovely close family and it is a pleasure to have her here.”

Dorothy lived independently until she was in her nineties and even did her own decorating and gardening
