Eviction is sought for drug offender

A MAN who was found guilty of growing cannabis in his council flat is still living in the property almost a month after he was convicted.

This week Milton Keynes Council confirmed it is looking to take legal action against Serpentine Court resident Danny Pearce, with the ultimate aim of evicting him.

Pearce was found guilty of producing cannabis at his council property on the Lakes Estate in Bletchley.

On January 13, he was given a community order at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court and ordered to pay costs of £85.

Thames Valley Police have also been called to the property on a number of occasions relating to incidents involving Pearce.

At least six of these have taken place since his court appearance.

The council is not normally able to pursue eviction proceedings against tenants who are found guilty of criminal offences.

But they would be able to take action against Pearce because his crime took place within his council property.

That means that council officers would be able to take legal action against him for breach of his tenancy.

A council spokesman said: “Mr Pearce is in breach of his tenancy and we are considering legal action. The council is taking this seriously.”
