Extra-terrestrials arrive at Bletchley Park
Bletchley Park
Extra-terrestrial visitors have arrived at Bletchley Park for the BBC’s stargazing event.
They are even using the red call box outside the post office to phone home.
But by capturing them on special sheets of postage stamps you could say we have the problem licked!
Bletchley Park Post Office was briefing Tingewick artist Danny Rogers on a new stamp project when Danny’s amusing images of space aliens caught their eye. The oil on canvas paintings depicted the aliens in a variety of amusing situations such as “First Contact” involving a classic red British call box just like the one outside the post office. So they added the images to a Royal Mail “Big Bang” stamps. The result is a collection of 4 limited edition stamp sheets featuring all 8 of Danny’s “Aliens” paintings. Each is a numbered. There are 20 1st class Royal Mail stamps on each sheet.
The series is on the website at www.bletchleycovers.com and can only be obtained from Bletchley Park Post Office, The Mansion, Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes, MK3 6EB or calling 0044 01908 272690.
