Two of the nation’s best loved family firms are joining forces and inviting families to share the love during an unforgettable joint anniversary weekend.
Gulliver’s theme parks have invited Swizzels to help them celebrate their birthday this weekend - and by sweet coincidence, it just so happens that this weekend’s festivities coincide with the 60th anniversary of Swizzels famous sweet brand, Love Hearts.
To celebrate, Gulliver’s will be setting entry at just £8 plus a Love Heart sweet per person across all three of its theme park sites in Warrington, Matlock Bath and Milton Keynes this Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6 - the first time the sweet treat has ever been accepted as legal tender.
And to inspire the whole family to join the fun, free return tickets will be handed out to anyone over 60 who comes along during the anniversary weekend.
A family favourite for generations, Swizzels marks 60 years since the birth of the iconic Love Hearts sweets this year - and Gulliver’s managing director Julie Dalton said the partnership between the two Derbyshire companies was a natural love-in.
Julie Dalton said: “Gulliver’s and Swizzels share an affinity with Derbyshire, we started out here 36 years ago and Swizzels have been based in the county since the 1940s. We share strong family values, so working together is a natural marriage of two great British brands - there’s so much in-store to entice families to mark this lovely occasion with us.”
Throughout the birthday weekend, there will be a free family break at Gulliver’s Warrington hotel up for grabs for the most spectacular marriage proposal to take place surrounded by Giant Love Heart situated at the entrance of every Gulliver’s park.
Couples can upload videos of their big moment to Gulliver’s and Swizzels’ social media pages where fellow users can vote for the best proposal.
Sarah-Louise Heslop, managing director of Swizzels said: “Love Hearts 60th anniversary is a huge celebration for our team and we are really happy to be able to celebrate it with Gulliver’s and hope that everyone will enjoy getting involved with the family fun that’s on offer at the parks.”
Also to celebrate the prestigious anniversary Swizzels are running a competition to design your own Love Hearts as well as a VIP tour of the Love Hearts factory to see their unique Love Heart in production.
The competition appears on packs of special Limited Edition Love Hearts rolls.
