A HUGE new housing development could see nearly 400 homes built on land between Wavendon and Wavendon Gate.

The Church Farm site between Phoebe Lane in Wavendon and the boundaries of Wavendon Gate has been identified by Milton Keynes Council as ‘suitable for sustainable growth and development for a new homes.’ Other areas include the land south of the A421 and east of Magna Park near the M1.

The development could also see H10 Bletcham Way extended towards Wavendon from Old Farm Park.

The first drop-in session took place last night (Wednesday) at MK Snap in Walnut Tree for people to voice their opinions on the potential plans – which are currently at the very early stages.

A resident from Shuttleworth Grove in Wavendon Gate, which backs on to the land provisionally marked for the new housing development, says there were pros and cons to the development.

“We live in quite a quiet street, with a great view across the fields and down towards Woburn Sands,” he said.

“A huge housing development would require an awful lot of things putting right before it could be given the go-ahead. There would need to be a new school, shops and infrastructure.

“But perhaps the knock-on effect could be positive for the area – we are in the top 10 slowest broadband areas in the country, and the new development may encourage BT and the council to provide a better service to the rest of Wavendon Gate.”
