‘Fights are getting worse’ says Xscape doorman

A DOORMAN at Xscape believes more could be done to prevent assaults like the one which left a man in a critical condition following a fight in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, has worked as a doorman at Xscape for more than five years and has seen the fights at closing time getting progressively worse and worse.

On Sunday morning a man was left in critical condition after a fight broke out oustide KFC.

Investigating officer Det Insp Nick Glister said: “I want to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident and officers have been out in Milton Keynes offering advice and reassurance.”

However, the doorman says that fights are a regular occurrence outside Xscape.

“They happen all the time, every weekend. They aren’t isolated at all,” he said. “I’ve seen the fights get worse in the time I’ve spent as a doorman.

“It’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed when they fall. People hit their heads on the concrete floors, on the pillars outside KFC - it’s really dangerous.

“I understand that the police cannot be everywhere to stop fight breaking out all the time, but something needs to be done.

“I think they should put one of their CCTV camera vans outside in the taxi rank, just as a deterrent. People will see it and think about what they’re doing or starting something.”

What do you think? Should more be done to prevent fights like this breaking out outside Xscape in the early hours? Leave a comment below.
