JOB seekers have a chance to seek employment thanks to the launch of the Jobstoday national Virtual Careers Fair which will run until March 1.

The Virtual Careers Fair is an online platform where employers can show off their business and vacancies to relevant job seekers through a virtual stand, and connect to promising individuals in a real-time environment.

With online features including chat and video technology, businesses can demonstrate what their vacancies involve while job seekers have the opportunity to show off their skills and expertise to help them land their next job.

A wide range of employers of all different sizes and across all sectors will be attending to suit every candidate’s needs. Some of these businesses include Victoria’s Secret, the Hesley Group, Ikea, DFS, Direct Line, Nationwide, the Ministry of Defence plus many more.

Jobstoday is part of Johnston Press PLC, one of the UK’s leading publishers of over 200 local newspapers and internet sites including the Scotsman and the Yorkshire Post. Promotions of the fair have appeared in all Johnston Press publications ensuring a wide range of both jobseekers and businesses will attend.

Joanne Harwood, Group Category Manager at Johnston Press, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in the fair since the registration process began in January from both businesses and jobseekers. We’re really excited about bringing together these motivated candidates and employers helping to fill great vacancies across a wide variety of sectors in the UK.

“Candidates will be able to browse employers by location to find vacancies in their area. The virtual stands provide lots of information to help candidates decide whether the company is right for them and to give them a better feel for the role.

“The chat functionality helps candidates increase their chances of landing their next role as they are able to demonstrate their skills and experience clearly before reaching the interview stage, bringing to life their CVs. We hope that many of these conversations will lead to great job opportunities, and we wish everyone the best of luck.”
