Fire destroys ground floor of home on New Year’s Day

NEW Year’s Day started with disaster in Stantonbury with firefighters rushing to a serious house fire in the early hours of the morning.

The blaze broke out at 3.51am in the house on Walsh’s Manor and destroyed 50 per cent of the ground floor.

Two appliances and crews from Great Holm and one from Broughton attended, along with Station Manager Steve Wells.

Firefighters used two hose reels, four sets of breathing apparatus and a PPV fan.

Despite their best efforts the ground floor was 100 per cent damaged by smoke.
