Firefighters will go on strike today and for parts of the weekend in a row over the Government’s plans to raise retirement age and increase pension contributions.
Crews from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have already initiated their contingency plans since 7am this morning, but plan to go on strike from 12pm to 5pm later today.
Tomorrow, crews will strike again between 2pm and 2am on Sunday - with another six hours of strike scheduled between 10am and 3pm later that day.
During these periods of industrial action, Bucks Fire and Rescue Service say they will prioritise emergency calls where lives are at risk.
It will also continue to provide as much information as possible to help people avoid having a fire or other emergency – not just during strike periods, but all year round.
