Footie nut stars in the beautiful game!

Kate named Teen Princess 2009

A CITY schoolgirl and star of MK Dons Football Centre of Excellence shone sobrightly in a national beauty contest she won a top prize.

A-star GCSE student Katie Weller, 15, came top of the class – and competition – as Miss Teen Princess 2009.

From her first heat of the contest she beat off thousands of other entrants and had the joy of being crowned winner in the glittering final at Wilton Hall, Bletchley, last Thursday.

And for Katie and the other 65 finalists the evening was about much more than beauty on the outside; all entrants had to showcase their ambition and determination for a number of causes. All the girls had to set up their own fundraising idea for the Philip Green Memorial Trust – a charity which supports sick and disabled children.

Katie said: "When the presenters announced 'the winner of Miss Teen Princess 2009 is.......Katie Weller' I was speechless and completely overwhelmed. It is only now just sinking in that I have actually won this title.

"I am looking forward to working with Teen Queen this coming year and hopefully I can now start to progress my dream of becoming a model. I would recommend to any girl looking to fulfil their dream that this is certainly a place to start and is truly amazing!"

The finalists also had to turn their hands to political campaigning by each obtaining at least 100 signatures for a petition to ban

coin-operated sunbeds in association with artificial tan makers Fake Bake.

Katie's proud mum Patricia said: "Katie's dream is to become a model and would love to play for England Ladies football one day!

"Failing this, she would like to study fashion or beauty. Although she does say she will keep following her dream."
