Fox found deliberately burned and hanging from a tree

Wildlife experts are baffled over the gruesome case of a dead fox found hanging from a tree with its face and paws burned away.

The mutilated animal was found by a walker in woods at Monkston Park this week.

“I smelled burning but thought nothing of it at first. Then I saw the fox hanging from its tail in a tree,” said the walker.

The position was so unantural that the fox must have been deliberately place there, she said.

“On closer inspection I saw its front legs and its jaw had been burnt, causing severe disfigurement. The nuzzle was burnt so badly it was unrecognisable.”

The fox has been reported to the RSPCA and the Parks Trust.

A Parks Trust spokesman said: “We’ve never seen anything like this before.”
