Gang member jailed after kidnap and torture

A man who was part of a gang who kidnapped, poured petrol and threatened two men with a gun has been given an indeterminate prison sentence.

On Friday, Aylesbury Crown Court heard how Abdulla Patima, aged 20, of Ramsons Avenue, Conniburrow, Milton Keynes was one of a number of men who attacked two victims, aged 26 and 31 after they visited Patima’s address on October 3 last year.

The two victims were subjected to prolonged periods of assault. One victim had a bag put over his head, petrol poured over him and a lighter flicked in his face. Both were threatened with a hand gun. One victim was rolled in a carpet and bundled into the boot of his own vehicle – then driven to woods near Woolstone in the city. The second victim managed to escape and raise the alarm.

After pleading guilty to kidnap and false imprisonment, actual bodily harm and theft at the earliest opportunity, Patima was handed an indeterminate sentence, and ordered to serve a minimum of three years and will be on licence for the rest of his life. He has already served 100 days on remand.

DC Matt Hemmings, investigating, said: “This was a savage attack which left two men badly injured. During the attack they believed they were to be set alight and killed in the most horrific way possible.

“I am pleased that the courts have taken into consideration the level of violence and intimidation which was used in this incident and I hope it will serve as a reminder to anyone who believes they can behave without regard to the law that they can expect to spend a considerable amount of time behind bars if they do so.

“We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding this attack and anyone with information about it should contact Milton Keynes CID on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
