Girl, 15, left shaken after attempted robbery

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery on Thursday.

Between 4.50pm and 5.15pm, a 15-year-old girl was walking with friends along Avebury Boulevard, towards the Xscape building, when three girls walking behind them started making comments and shouting.

When the victim entered the underpass of Avebury Boulevard and Secklow Gate, the girls tried to stop one of the victim’s friends from walking. The victim told the offenders to leave her friends alone and as she was walking away, they grabbed the victim’s bag.

The bag was worn across the victim’s body so the victim kept hold of her bag, but was assaulted by the girls who grabbed her hair and slapped her head.

The offenders are white and aged between 14 and 15 –years-old. One was 5ft 6ins and had long dark hair. The second had blonde hair and was wearing a red/pink hooded top. The third offender was 5ft 8ins, with long dark hair and was wearing a blue hooded top.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the offence, which left the victim shaken and upset. They would also like to hear from anyone who saw the offenders or the incident take place.

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Wendy Cissell via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 101.

If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
