Hospital team who saved girl praised

A BABY girl who was brought back from the dead by hospital doctors has been discharged as fighting fit.

Ingrid O’Sullivan was just three months old when she became critically ill during a visit to her grandmother in Milton Keynes.

Her parents Joanna and Kilian rushed her to an out of hours GP at Ashfield Medical, where suddenly things took a terrifying turn.

Ingrid, pictured, became grey, floppy and “showed no signs of life,” said hospital spokesman Leigh Kendall.

“A clinic nurse identified the seriousness of the baby’s condition, alerted a doctor and started CPR,” she said.

Ingrid was rushed to A&E at Milton Keynes Hospital where a team of doctors, led by paediatric consultant Dr Keya Ali, spent 30 minutes resuscitating her.

Miraculously she survived and was able to be transferred to a specialist intensive care unit for children.

Doctors there discovered her near death was a result of multiple organ failure due to septic shock from a bacterial infection. Now, after six weeks recovering in hospital, Ingrid has returned to her Manchester home with her relieved parents.

Mum Joanna said: “The fact Ingrid is healthy, happy and should make a full recovery is testament to the skill, care, dedication and professionalism of the doctors, nurses and staff that have cared for her and none more so than at Milton Keynes Hospital.

“The care Ingrid received was exemplary and I would like to thank all the staff who cared for her.”
