IF ever a pop duo were meant for an official opening it is MK1 for the unveiling of the city’s newest shopping centre at the weekend.

The X Factor finalists will perform at the MK1 Shopping Park from 12pm on Sunday.

Their show will be part of a two day official opening of the facility, which will also include a free ice rink.

MK1, based next to stadium:mk in Denbigh, is already home to H&M, Outfit, River Island and Marks & Spencer. The latest addition to the site will be MK’s first Primark, which opens at 9am on Wednesday, December 12.

New Look is due to open its doors in time for Christmas.

The shopping park’s car park will be transformed into an ice rink between 10am and 5pm this Saturday and Sunday. Some lucky customers will also receive a free bag for life simply for visiting.

More tham 200 new jobs have already been created at MK1, owned by The Crown Estate.

X Factor finalists MK1 are an urban hip-hop duo, made up of best friends Charlie Rundle and Simeon Dixon. The pair rose to fame this year, reaching the live finals of the talent competition.

Regional Portfolio Manager at The Crown Estate, Jenny Mulligan, said: “We hope that all shoppers, including those who have never visited before, can join us for some fun on our Grand Opening weekend, as we welcome our ‘namemate’ MK1 to the park for our fantastic celebrations.”
