A Milton Keynes mum will cycle 68 miles to help beat Cystic Fibrosis for her ‘brave little girl’.

Catherine Jackson, whose three-year-old daughter Hattie was diagnosed with the condition, will cycle from Woking back to the city after organising a cycle ride and fun day.

The Fun Day is taking place in Milton Keynes at the Oxley Park Community Centre on Saturday, June 28 between 12 and 5pm.

And it’s set to be a great day out with live music, a BBQ, bouncy castle, face painting, traditional funfair games, raffle, magician, stalls, refreshments, demos and taster sessions from Mini Strikers, Paramount Parkour, On Pointe Dance and MK Kick Boxercise!

What’s more, admission to the event is free and everyone is invited.

“Hattie is our beautiful, loving, brave little girl,” said Catherine, 33.

“We found out Hattie had Cystic Fibrosis when she was 6 weeks old. Since diagnosis she has kept relatively well with daily medication, physiotherapy and regular hospital appointments.

“We were given advice and support from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust right from Hattie’s diagnosis, and we know that they will continue to be a big part of our lives.”

Cystic Fibrosis causes the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, to become clogged with thick, sticky mucus, resulting in chronic infections and inflammation of the lungs.

And only half of those who are living with the condition reach their 40th birthday - but Catherine hopes the funds raised through her efforts will help the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Catherine added: ““My Husband, Scott, is cycling the bike ride and has previously completed a marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis trust.

“We can’t believe how generous everyone has been and the number of people who have come forward in support because they know or have known someone with Cystic Fibrosis.

“We would love everyone to come and show your support too and join us on what is sure to be a great day out and to see the money will go to such a fantastic cause.

“We look forward to the day we can say to Hattie ‘we have a cure’, and with your help the Cystic Fibrosis trust can continue their work and this day can come sooner.”

> There are still places available for the cycle from Westfield Common, Woking, Surrey through to the Fun Day at Oxley Park Community Centre, Redgrave Drive, Milton Keynes.
