It’s not just any store opening, this is an M&S opening

PEOPLE queued around the block this morning as the ribbon was officially cut at the new Marks and Spencer store at the MK1 shopping centre.

Store manager Emily King declared the store open, alongside long-serving worker Ethine-May Eral who has been with the company for 29 years.

Emily said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for this new store and we are all really excited. This is an amazing location and the big difference we offer from other M&S stores in the area is the homeware department.

“We are expecting a really good footfall this year and we have opened at a really exciting time.”

The store, with a cafe that overlooks stadium:mk, opened with a cannon of confetti, while in-store there were special clothing shows to show people the range of clothing on offer.

Ethine-May said: “This is part of an incredible journey for the store and for me personally. I have been in retail and with this company for so long for a reason.

“It offers such a great opportunity for young people and a great career. The customers really make it though and Christmas time with M&S is wonderful.”

M&S became the third store to open following the opening of Outfit last Tuesday and River Island on Saturday.
