The Rosewood Care Home in Bletchley was full of laughter on December 23 as Joyce and Dick Barrett celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary.
As well as receiving a card of congratulations from the queen, the happy couple’s family turned out in force to celebrate the special occasion.
However, things were very different when the two married 70 years ago in the middle of the Second World War with rationing in force.
No expense was spared this time though as a three storey cake was delivered, and the cards and presents were plentiful.
Rosewood Care Home manager Sharon Thursby said: “It was a wonderful day for them both and we were only too happy to help them celebrate.
“Everyone wishes them well.”
