Jury retires in Rachel Manning case

THE jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering teenager Rachel Manning has retired to consider it verdict.

The 19-year-old was found strangled at Woburn Golf Club in December 2000.

Her boyfriend Barri White was convicted of her murder, but later acquitted after serving six years of a life sentence.

Shahidul Ahmed, from Crescent Crescent in Bletchley denies murder. The 41-year-old Bangladeshi restaurant worker is standing trial at Luton Crown Court.

Miss Manning, who lived in Wolverton, had been to a party with Mr White when the pair became separated in the early hours of December 10, 2000.

Her body was found two days later.
