Man left blind by vicious attack

Victim and family come to terms with loss of sight

A 22-year-old has pleaded guilty to assaulting another man.

Benjamin Gibson, of Permayne, New Bradwell, struck after an argument at the house in April last year.

His victim suffered extensive injuries to his eyes and stab wounds to the neck and body Luton Crown Court was told this week.

Gibson was remanded in custody to be sentenced for causing grievous bodily harm with intent next month.

Afterwards Det Con Iain O'Kane said: "This was a vicious attack which has deprived a young man of his sight. The victim and his family have had to come to terms with the fact he will spend the rest of his life blind in both eyes.

"Clearly this has left them devastated," he said.
