Man assaulted with metal bar
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an assault on a man on Monday evening.
The 28-year-old victim was driving home along Britten Grove near Old Farm Park at around 8.45pm when he came across two large snowmen blocking the road. When he stopped, a group of youths started throwing snowballs at him.
He chased them across a nearby field towards Byrd Crescent where one of the group hit him with a metal pole. He sustained a head injury that required stitches.
PC Seb Russell, investigating officer said: “The victim was quite lucky to have only sustained a small wound, which was quite deep and required stitches. Although the assault took place in a field with no witnesses, there may be witnesses to the start of the incident. “
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact PC Russell on the non-emergency number 101.
If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
