Runners in this year’s Sport Relief Mile will be led off by British BMX Champion, Izzy Ferrada and the Mayor of Milton Keynes.
Councillor Brian White will join Izzy on March 23 at 10.30am as the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief mile sets off from Silbury Boulevard.
They will then be entertained by the five time world record holder in football freestyle, Daniel Cutting, who will be entertaining visitors throughout the day.
More than 500 people have already signed up for the event which will see them walk, jog or run for one, three or six miles. However, there is still time to enter the race.
Event organiser Vicki Clark, from the council’s MK Sports Development team, said: “It is fantastic to see so many people have already signed up for The Milton Keynes Mile, but we want even more people to join in the fun and games to make it the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile yet.
“We will have live music, face painting and other sporting activities to add to the day’s entertainment. So come along with your friends and family to be a part of it and let’s do our bit to raise as much money as we possibly can for this incredible cause.”
Councillor Debbie Brock, the Cabinet Member who chairs the local Health & Wellbeing Board, said: “Enjoying exercise and sport is not only fun but key to a full, active and above all healthy lifestyle, and of course a massive event like Sport Relief also benefits so many other people as well.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to get out there, join in and get moving.”
