For the past three weeks, people in Milton Keynes have had their thinking caps on for the chance to transform a popular board game.
As we revealed last month, our city is being honoured with its very own official Monopoly board.
The new board will see 22 Milton Keynes property landmarks swapping places with the famous Monopoly London streets.
And since being asked to vote for landmarks to feature – the public have voted in their many thousands –some even as far away as New Zealand and Canada.
The suggestions have included a cow to be a playing piece to commemorate the famed MK cow sculptures, and the board to be round rather than square to celebrate our record number of roundabouts.
The game, which could be shortened to The Monopoly MK edition, could also include a fine for players visiting Luton or Northampton or landmarks such as Snozone, the theatre, stadium:mk or an entertainment complex.
Also, many of the Community Chest and Chance cards will be customised too and the four train stations from the original London board will take on a travel feel.
And the Milton Keynes Citizen has also been tipped to be in the running for a place on the board!
Carys Underwood, marketing manager at Destination Milton Keynes, said: “It’s amazing to see just how many votes are coming in for this brand new board.
“It’s no surprise. We are very proud of our city and it is brilliant to know it will be forever immortalised on the most famous board game in the world.”
Voting closes at midnight on Thursday, May 1. Email your suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org or at www.facebook.com/mkmonopoly
