MILTON Keynes Council has confirmed it cost around £170,000 to grit the city’s roads during the recent cold spell.

The figures are projected costs over a two-week period from January 16, and break down at just over £12,100 a day.

The gritting machines were out in force in mid-January after chilly weather bought ice and heavy snow to MK and the surrounding areas.
