Anthony Faconti of Bitmode Ltd is organising mkhackday
THE city’s top techies are being encouraged to take part in an event which could see the production of the new Twitter.
The mkhackday get-together will aim to produce a tool that can be used across the web and mobile, and will be freely available to the general public.
Organisers are hoping the free, one day event will help to showcase city talent and promote Milton Keynes.
It will take place at The Buszy, located on the site of the old bus station in Central Milton Keynes, between 8am and 10pm on May 5.
More than 20 people have already signed up for the free event, but experts including web and mobile developers/designers, digital project managers and copywriters are all encouraged to attend.
The man behind the project, Anthony Faconti, of creative agency Bitmode, said: “What we are hoping to do is come up with some form of proposal that makes the most of a number of mediums: a way people can get information from each other.
“Perhaps a user medium like Twitter, but that you wouldn’t have to follow people to use.
“This is very much experimental. We want to get people to see what can be achieved. By the end of the day we’d like to have something that can be put out formally to the public.”
The day’s events will be live blogged and videoed.
