Milton Keynes’ most wanted man has finally been brought to justice after he was jailed for three and a half years.

David May, 41, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday (Monday) after he pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary.

The first burglary took place in Merthen Grove, Tattenhoe, on December 29 last year where a handbag was stolen. The second saw two laptops taken from a house in Cranbourne Avenue, Westcroft, on January 10 and 11.

May was wanted for failing to answer police bail at Milton Keynes Police Station on February 5 after being initially arrested on suspicion of a burglary on January 21.

Police put out extensive appeals for any information on his whereabouts and he was consequently arrested again on February 20.

He was sentenced to three years for the Cranbourne Avenue offences and three and a half years for the Merthen Grove offence. The two will run concurrently.

Milton Keynes Local Policing Area Commander Superintendent Barry Halliday said: “We are pleased with the outcome which delivers a clear message to burglars that we will not tolerate this type of offence which causes such destruction, misery and anxiety to the victims.

“We want people in Milton Keynes to feel safe in their homes and we will ensure those who feel they can get away with committing this type of crime are mistaken.

“I would also like to thank the public and media for their support in helping us capturing David May, who had gone on the run after he found out we were closing in on him.”
