MP Iain Stewart met staff and volunteers from the Papworth Trust to show his support for the work they do - as well as a new service.
The service, which supports older and disabled people in Milton Keynes was launched in April 2013 to help with jobs in the home including home adaptations and repairs.
The MP for Milton Keynes South met the staff and volunteers who carry out jobs in the local area. They told him about fitting hand rails and stair lifts to prevent falls, and making repairs to improve safety in the home including rewiring and guttering. The team also spoke about their success in raising charitable funding for emergency repairs, and about their plans for the future.
Mr Stewart said: “I am very impressed by the work Papworth Trust is doing. It was fantastic to see first-hand the ambition and passion the staff clearly show to their work. The work the Trust is doing is vital and is of great benefit to the local community. There is no doubt the help they are providing is improving the life of vulnerable people across Milton Keynes. I wish Papworth Trust every success for the future.”
Kaymarie Smith, Agency Manager for Papworth Trust in Milton Keynes said:”We really enjoyed the visit, and the chance to explain how the service caters for disabled people of all ages, disabilities and impairments in Milton Keynes.”
Papworth Trust runs services to help people stay in their own homes for longer across Cambridgeshire, East Hertfordshire, Essex, Greater London and Leicestershire.
