BOTH city MPs are throwing their weight behind a city job fair which will be held next Thursday at the city Buszy.

Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart will be partnering with MK Council, Jobcentre Plus, Connexions, MK College and Skills Funding Agency.

Mr Stewart said: “It is welcome that unemployment figures are falling and that MK is set to see the fastest economic growth on the country, but we must not be complacent. This is why we are partnering with other agencies who share our goal of ensuring that young people in the city not only have jobs, but also have the relevant skills to meet the requirements of businesses relocating to the city.”

Mr Lancaster said: “Milton Keynes economy is one of the leading lights in the country and while total unemployment is low, youth unemployment is a concern. With so many big businesses based in the city, Iain and I are determined to make sure young job seekers know where to look and hope the jobs fair will go some way in helping young people come face to face with potential employers.”

Many companies have already donated to a raffle that will be drawn on the day. They include, Home Retail Group, Nifty Lifts, Santander, Railcare, JHP Training, MK College, Adult & Continuing Education (ACE) McDonald’s, MK Dons and Karen Wyness.

On the day visitors can win £100 red letter day vouchers, £80 love to shop vouchers in CMK, a match day family ticket to an MK Dons match for four people, and much more.
