Nearly no books are left in ‘Save Stony Stratford Library’ mission
THE future of Stony Stratford Library is still in doubt – but members are not letting it go without a fight.
A campaign organised by the Friends of Stony Stratford Library (FOSSL) is well under way to save the facility and to show the council that it is still popular and well used.
The group have urged all members of the library to visit by Saturday and take out the maximum number of books – 15 – to leave it empty.
Emily Malleson, a member of FOSSL said: “So far it is going really well. We think about half of the books have already been taken out – it has been so busy.
“We are the third busiest library in Milton Keynes, and nobody is really sure why the library is under review. It is all a bit hazy.

“It is still an important facility in the community. People forget that we are not just about books.
“We have internet facilities for people to apply for jobs, we hold summer reading camps for children and the schools come here to get extra books out. If we lost the library, it would be devastating.”
FOSSL are urging members of the library who have not yet taken out the maximum amount of books to visit by Saturday in order to leave it empty.
