Neigh-bourly spirit at community event
Panto-based race sees plenty of horsing around
It may not have been the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe but the stakes were just as high at the Hanslope pantomime horse trials.
The inaugural 2009 event, organised by Hanslope Pre-School and Hanslope 326 After School Club, featured two teams of four dressed in panto horse costumes going for the finishing line at the MK Eventing Centre in Castlethorpe.
The runners and riders had to race around a gently winding course, negotiating small horse jumps and other equestrian obstacles.
One of the event organisers Anne Gambles said: "It was a fantastic day and we were extremely lucky with the weather.
"It was great fun to watch and we would like to say a big thank you to all those who came and supported us.
"There were so many people who turned up on the Saturday to help set up marquees and then helped to clear up after the event on the Sunday.
"Thank you to those people for showing real community spirit."
