Neigh problem for Diamond Jubilee

THE war horse from Steven Speilberg’s epic film is to be the star attraction at a village Diamond Jubilee party.

Joey will appear in an evening show specially created for Mursley residents by their famous Devils Horsemen team.

The thoroughbred was trained by the Mursley-based stunt team to prepare for his film role.

The party will also feature Mursley’s own Diamond Jubilee King and Queen, whose royal carriage will lead a procession of floats.

The day will end with a torchlit procession to light the village’s jubilee beacon.

Tickets are strictly limited and must be purchased in advance – to reserve your ticket call 01296 720609/720409 and leave a message or email

Thye cost £20 for adults, £10 for children under 16 on January 1, 2012 and are free for under four-year-olds.

All profits go to charity.

> THE Citizen’s pledge to do the city proud during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations gets off to a galloping start this week – thanks to Joey the War Horse.

The equine film star will be guest of honour at the jubilee party in Mursley village, where his trainers are based.

Now we want to hear what other people are planning for the big day in June to take advantage of the nation’s two extra bank holidays.

It could be a street party, a formal evening event or even a picnic. Whatever your plans, email us and let us know. We would also love to print any photographs people may have of local families celebrating the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.
