The number of people aged 18-24 out of work in Milton Keynes has dropped to less than 500.

Latest statistics show that there are 428 people in that age category currently unemployed, compared to numbers of around 1,000 over the last three or four years.

MP for Milton Keynes North, Mark Lancaster, welcomed the figures as a step in the right direction for the city.

He said: “This is a clear indication that the combined efforts of employers, Government initiatives and the tailored approach from the Jobcentre Plus team has proved to be yet another positive move in the right direction for the youth of Milton Keynes.”
